ORIGIN: oak is a tree of the beech family. It grows almost in all European countries, both on the North and on the South.
PROPERTIES: mature wood is durable, long-lived, resistant to external influences with a nice texture on the cuts. The sapwood is light yellow. Oak becomes darker with the time and it gives the noble antiquity tint. Oak wood is dried comparatively slow, while being dried with acceleration it is disposed to cracks.
USE: as oak is very strong, its veneer also displays this peculiarity. That is why it is used not only for decoration of furniture facades but for staircases paneling, doors and parquet planks. Oak veneer is widely used in furniture industry.
